New Canvas Functionality for Students
Instructure recently introduced two new Canvas enhancements for students: Notebook and Customizable Dashboard for Learners.
Notebook provides students a way to highlight and take notes on pages within Canvas. Inside any Canvas Page, learners can:
- Highlight passages they want to return to
- Mark material as “important” or “unclear”
- Leave their own notes to return to later
- View all of their notes and highlights for a course in a single Notebook, accessible from the Course navigation

The new Customizable Dashboard for Learners feature allows students to switch to the new customizable Dashboard view and personalize it by adding, rearranging, or deleting widgets. You can also access information through key widgets such as Course work, Course grades, Announcements, and People.
