This page provides the appropriate information and disclaimers for many widely used academic technology tools at Baylor. Faculty are encouraged to copy-and-paste these passages into their syllabi as needed.

Various options are available for templating course content, allowing instructors and academic units to streamline course development, ensure consistency, and enhance instructional quality across multiple courses to create a cohesive learning experience by providing a common look and feel, standardized content, and efficient course design processes.

Have a great idea that would improve the Canvas user experience? Suggesting improvements is the easiest and most effective way to influence how Instructure prioritizes and develops changes to Canvas.

Canvas supports apps for mobile devices using the Android and iOS operating systems for both Students and Teachers. Apps are available to download through the App Store or Google Play Store.

Canvas release notes maintain a current list of features and other customer-impacting changes that will be included in an upcoming Canvas release. Updates are available on the third Saturday of every month.

In accordance with Baylor’s Technology Systems Usage Policy, course content and academic records in Canvas are presumed to be private and confidential. These guidelines have been created to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of course records in Canvas.

LTI Integrations are plug-ins that allow third-party programs to work directly within Canvas (e.g. Respondus LockDown Browser, Zoom and Box.

Use of external tools within Canvas must align with Baylor’s policies on technology usage, academic systems, and student data. To ensure the privacy of student data, the security of university systems, and compliance with institutional policy, all external tools must go through a review process before being installed.

When Canvas or another campus system is temporarily unavailable, a few proactive habits and a clear fallback plan keep your course communicating, sharing materials, and moving forward.
